Murano - Lap Quilt - featuring Grand Canal by Kate Spain 2016.
The Grand Canal is in Venice, Italy and it was the inspiration for Kate’s fabric line. My favorite print in the group is the one showing the intricate glass beads that are hand blown by the local artisans. My husband and I had an amazing trip to Venice in 2018. We took a canal boat from Venice to Murano, which is a series of islands joined by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon. Murano is know for its glass blowing and it was a truly magical day. (I also came within 3 feet of George Clooney on that trip!) The simple design of this quilt is to showcase the beautiful colors and prints in Kate’s line. Everytime I look at this quilt I smile.
