Spring has officially sprung! The birds are chirping, the blooms are blossoming, and the sun is peeking out just a little more. I love the fresh start and creativity that spring brings. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful nature on our property, which inspires many elements of my work. When I am not busy meeting design deadlines, I try and keep up with the gardening - well, I should say more like yardwork (We live on 10 acres).
April was a busy month! We celebrated my youngest son Joel's champagne birthday! He turned 23 on the 23rd of April. Both my son Peter and daughter Dani accepted new job positions; Peter in Forestry Stewardship and Dani in the ICU department at a new hospital.
We had a lovely Mexican Easter Dinner celebration, for which all the children were able to be home. It was the first time since Christmas that our schedules allowed us all to gather together. We took this rare occasion to model our Sunflowers in My Heart t-shirts by my amazing colleague @KateSpain. The shirts are available in a variety of colours on kdspain.com. Kate has already raised $7500 for World Central Kitchen for their relief efforts in Ukraine and Poland to feed families and refugees.
It is the final countdown till my first grandbaby arrives! I made up this cute baby bunny quilt in Baby Cherniwchan's nursery colours. I was able to use up a teeny tiny bit of my fabric stash for this project and I quilted it with an adorable bunny pantograph designed by Timeless Quilting. The quilt turned out so well that I decided to publish "Baby Bunny" as a new smaller version of the larger "Bunny Town" pattern.
Pocketful of Posies
This pattern features Wild Meadow by Sweetfire Road and uses a layer cake. The pattern for this 76" square lap quilt will be available in August and the fabric is schedule to arrive in stores in September.
Spring Meadow
This pattern also features Wild Meadow and incorporates applique into the alternate blocks. The lap quilt measure 56" x 68". I don't know why but every time I look at this I crave jam and Devon cream on homemade scones.
Georgia
If you have been quilting for a while you most likely have some Robyn Pandolph fabric in your stash. This lap quilt features Robyn Pandolph Saxty's newest fabric line, American Beauty, with Maywood Studio. Maywood Studio will be offering this as a kit later this summer and the pattern is available now!
Come Fly With Me
This 54" x 68" lap quilt uses a layer cake from Janet Clare's newest fabric line "Bon Voyage". Who knew you could get all these different blocks from 10" squares! The pattern will be available in August and the fabric is scheduled to be in stores in September. My husband is a travel medicine and vaccination specialist and this quilt will be hanging in his office...eventually! :)
